Former Speaker Krishna questions

Mysore/Mysuru: Taking a dig at Pontiffs, former Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly Krishna said every caste has Seers and they are seeking reservation. “I don’t know why they need to do caste politics”?

Speaking at a function organised by Kuvempunagar Citizens’ Forum to honour people from various walks of life yesterday, he said “the Pontiffs are asking to include their caste in the SC, ST and 2A category. This is the job of agitators, social workers and politicians. The Seers, who are supposed to teach morality and guide the society, are indulged in caste politics. While our neighbouring countries are progressing, we are still  fighting in the name of caste,” he bemoaned.

Krishna said the Government employees were working under suffocating atmosphere and they have reached such a stage that whatever done in Democracy is construed as a mistake. “If we try to say something to people, they will shoot back, has the CM not gone to jail? While politicians were scolded, Government officials and Police officers were branded corrupt. Already, Legislature and Executive have become defunct and even Media is also totally spoiled. I see no hope for the country to improve even if another movement akin to the historic JP Movement was launched,” he noted.

He said today, they were afraid of corrupt and criticise honest people instead of supporting them. This bad habit is growing in society and this should go in the interest of everyone.

Prof. S. Shivarajappa, Director of Oriental Research Institute, University of Mysore, who delivered the felicitation address, said the Kings were honouring poets, scientists and teachers in recognition of their contribution to society. With this message, Kuvempunagar Citizens’ Forum has felicitated talents from different spheres of life.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sandesh Kumar who has bagged the Chief Minister Medal for exemplary services, said his responsibility has become more now after being honoured with the medal.

On the occasion, Srirangapatna Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) and winner of President’s medal Arun Nagegowda, ACP (Traffic) Sandesh Kumar, Chamarajanagar Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Inspector C. Kiran Kumar, Command Area Development Authority (CADA) Chairman Shivalingaiah and Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA)  President S.T. Ravikumar were felicitated. Sri Someshwaranatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Mutt (Mysuru Branch), MLA L. Nagendra, Corporator M.C. Ramesh and Reception Committee President Vikrant P. Devegowda were present.
