Mysuru: The wife of a reporter of a private TV News Channel has lodged a complaint with the Kuvempunagar Police on Sunday, 28th January, 2018 accusing a woman Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) of harassing her husband to marry her and also threatening him with her service revolver.
Geetha, wife of TV reporter Ram, in her complaint has made the charges against woman PSI Yasmin Taj, who is serving at the IGP (Southern Range) office in city.
In her complaint, Geetha said that her husband Ram came into contact with PSI Yasmin Taj three years ago, following which the PSI used to visit her (Geetha) home frequently. During the course of her visit, Taj cajoled her husband into a secret relationship with her and even pressed him to marry her. But her husband Ram refused to do so, following which Yasmin Taj cooked up stories in order to shame her husband.
In July 2015, Yasmin Taj accompanied by a man visited her house and threatened her (Geetha) and her husband Ram with her service revolver, besides, asking her husband to convert to Islam and marry her. The woman PSI also threatened to defame her and Ram and also demanded Rs.20 lakh from Ram, Geetha alleged.
Ram went to Hunsur on the morning of Jan.27, 2018 to cover an event and Ram called her at 7.49 pm in the evening saying that he would return to Mysuru soon. But Ram again called her at 10.38 pm to inform that PSI Yasmin Taj was harassing him. Later, she tried to call Ram once again but could not contact him as his cell phone was switched off.
Her husband Ram may have switched off his cell phone because of the threat posed by the woman PSI, Geetha said in her complaint.
Following the complaint, Kuvempunagar Police have registered a case (Cr. No. 10/2018) under Sections 506 and 384 of the IPC.
