Mysore/Mysuru: A wild elephant, aged about 30 years, was found dead at Antharasanthe Wildlife Range in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve on June 17. The Forest staff, who were on their regular patrol at Antharasanthe Range, found the dead elephant on June 17 at about 2 pm and informed the higher officers.
Metikuppe Sub-Division ACF and Antharasanthe RFO D. Bharath and staff, who reached the spot, conducted an inspection and as it had got dark, camera traps were installed around the dead elephant.
On June 18 (Tuesday), H.D. Kote taluk Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. B.B. Prasanna visited the spot and conducted post-mortem in the presence of Forest officials and gave the report stating that the elephant had died of natural cause. As per the procedure, the body of the elephant was left at the spot. As per instruction from DCF Harshakumar Chikkanaragunda, Hunsur Wildlife Sub-Division ACF, Veterinarian Dr. B.B. Prasanna, RFO D. Bharath and others were present.
