Sir,
The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has become tech-savvy with the installation of smart meters which should definitely be useful for both CESC and their consumers.
To achieve this, CESC commenced its work by replacing almost all the existing overhead lines in most parts of Mysuru. This is just a manual labour and no technicalities are involved in replacing the overhead lines.
But unfortunately this simple work was not executed under proper supervision by the area engineers concerned.
Earlier CESC used to fix “spacers” between the overhead lines which would act as a deterrent from getting the wires short-circuited during windy and rainy seasons. When the wires come in direct contact with each other, sparks are produced leading to short-circuit in the gadgets used by the CESC consumers and tripping of the transformer.
When CESC could achieve high-tech “smart grid”, I fail to comprehend why this low-tech application of fixing “spacers” was overlooked by CESC, at the cost of their consumers? I request the area engineers of CESC to fix spacers to the overhead lines on top priority.
