Bengaluru: Asserting that a University in the name of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda will be established at Magadi in Bengaluru rural district if the JD(S) is voted to power in next year’s Assembly polls, former Chief Minister and JD(S) Legislative Party leader H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) has called upon party workers to ensure JD(S) victory in at least a dozen seats in Bengaluru city.
He was addressing party workers after formally launching the party’s ambitious ‘Pancharatna Yatra’ by performing Puja at the ancient Gavigangadhareshwara temple on Mysuru road here yesterday.
Pointing out that the ‘Panchratna Yatra’ will start on a full-scale with the holding of a massive rally at Kurudumale in Mulbagal taluk of Kolar district on Nov.1 marking Kannada Rajyotsava, Kumaraswamy said that today (Oct. 28), a special Puja will be performed at the famed Annamma temple in the heart of Bengaluru city, following which a symbolic rally will be taken out in Gandhinagar Constituency.
Noting that the rally will go on for 35 days in the first phase, he said that ‘Grama Vastavya’ (village stay) too will be part of the rally. He further said that it was the JD(S) which first announced reservation to many marginalised sections of the society.
Listing out his achievements when he was the Chief Minister two times, Kumaraswamy said that both the National parties — Congress and BJP — do not have any real concerns or commitment for the welfare of the people.
Lashing out at the Congress and BJP, the JD(S) leader said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra being taken out by the Congress will not help in understanding problems of the people.
Taking a dig at the BJP’s ‘Janasankalpa Yatra,’ Kumaraswamy wondered how it would benefit the BJP when the party had failed to deliver in the first instance.
Citing the example of neighbouring Telangana’s growth model where the TRS is in power, Kumaraswamy said that his party will launch ‘Raitha Bandhu’ scheme in Karnataka too on the lines of Telangana, which is of real help to the farming community.
He also announced the salient features of the party’s other future plans if it comes to power.
