Sir,
It is a welcome move that KSOU is the only University in Karnataka that can offer distance education while all other conventional Universities have been asked to stop offering distance education.
It may be mentioned that in December 2020, Karnataka State Legislative Assembly had approved Karnataka State Universities and certain other Law (second Amendment) Bill-2020 which has facilitated only Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) in Mysuru to offer distance education in the State.
For the benefit of students, there are Regional Study Centres and Learner Support Centres established in district-levels. These Centres, instead of assisting students, are collecting extra fee than what is mentioned in the official notification, for admission and examination.
Although the issue has been brought to the attention of the KSOU Vice-Chancellor, no action has been taken.
Students are already suffering from drought, floods and the pandemic. Hence, we request the Governor-Chancellor to intervene in the matter and help the students.
