Mysore/Mysuru: HPE-SwarmIT-2023 Hackathon was organised by GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru, in collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Bengaluru, recently. This day-long event was hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and GSSSIETW Alumnae Association.
It aimed to identify real-time problem solving skills of the participants. Students were able to provide feasible solutions in the areas of Web Application, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. A total of 76 students in 19 teams from 10 Engineering Colleges, 2 teams per College across Mysuru participated.
Vanaja B. Pandit, Hon. Secretary, GSSS, Mysuru, R.K. Bharath, CEO, GSSS and Anupama B. Pandit, Administrative Officer, GSSSIETW, extended their support in organising this event in the campus. T-shirts and goodies were distributed to the student participants by HPE.
The students’ performance was evaluated by a HPE jury team comprising Ganesh Lakshminarayana, Manisha Pandey, Santoshkumar Hiremath, M.S. Shekar, Smita Pawar and V.V. Ranganath Prabhu. At the valedictory in the evening, S. Kumaraswamy, Senior Section Manager, HPE Storage, was the chief guest. He addressed the students about the importance of choosing their domain during the initial stage of career.
Achuthan Panduranga, Business Lead, Chief of Staff, HPE Compute, was the panel member for the event.
Winners: First prize (Rs. 50,000) and third prize (Rs. 20,000) were bagged by SJCE, Mysuru while the second prize (Rs. 30,000) was bagged by MIT Thandavapura, Mysuru.
Dr. M. Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW, highlighted the importance of hackathon. Dr. S. Meenakshi Sundaram, Head, Department of CSE, Dr. P. Raviraj, Professor, Dr. M.B. Rajashekar, Associate Professor, J. Vishwesh, Assistant Professor, J. Usha Rani, Assistant Professor and faculty hosted the event.
