Wins prize in Intl. Cartoon Contest

Mysuru: Noted Bengaluru-based cartoonist B.V. Panduranga Rao has been awarded the third prize with cash award of 150 Euros (approximately Rs. 14,000) and Diploma at the 9th International Contest Animal Cartoon-2024, organised in Belgrade, Serbia.

The theme of the Contest was ‘Sea Animals’ and the Juries selected Rao’s cartoon for the cash award from 1,532 Cartoons received from 383 participants of 63 countries. He has been presented with the Diploma Certificate and the Cartoon Catalogue in which his prized Cartoon has been published.

The 81-year-old senior cartoonist has already won numerous National and International Awards and his name has been entered 14 times in Limca Book, 14 times in India Book, 13 times in various World Records for his achievements and creations. His works have been exhibited in 40 countries and he is the winner of UNIMED Health Award-2015, Brazil and has won 5 times cash awards in the various Cartoon Contests held in China.

Rao is a retired Engineer from Bhilai Steel Plant and a Hobby Cartoonist for the past 55 years. He was born in Mysuru and studied at Chamundipuram Middle School and Hardwicke High School before continuing his studies in Bengaluru.
