In a tragic mishap, a woman was burnt to death and two others including a woman and her son received burns when a Bengaluru-bound KSRTC bus caught fire near Nelamangala on NH-4 early yesterday morning.
While the deceased has been identified as Bhagyamma (50), the injured who are being treated at Victoria Hospital, have been identified as Mamatha, wife of one Rajesh and her son Yash.
It is said that he central portion of the ill-fated bus plying between Chikkamagalur and Bengaluru carrying 40 passengers caught fire and the driver brought the bus to a halt on seeing the flames, which saved many lives.
KSRTC Managing Director Rajendra Katharia, who visited the spot, announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to the kin of Bhagyamma and added that the KSRTC would foot the medical bills of the injured.
