Chamarajanagar: In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old woman and one of her daughters, who were taking a bath at Suvarnavathi river waters in the taluk, died of electrocution while another daughter sustained injuries when an electric wire snapped and fell on them yesterday.
The deceased have been identified as Manjula (40), a native of Hebsur and a resident of Bhramaramba Extension in Chamarajanagar town and her daughter Yatishri (9).
Manjula and her daughters, Yathishri and Shravyashri, 13, had come for a village fest at Hebsur in the taluk, when they ventured to Suvarnavathi waters flowing nearly for having a bath in the afternoon. Even as the three were having bath, an overhead power line snapped and fell on them. While Manjula and Yatishri died of electrocution at the spot, Shravyashri sustained minor burn injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Manjula, wife of Kannan, was a former teacher at a Private School in Chamarajanagar town, it is learnt. CESC Officials, who rushed to the spot, assured of adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.
Ramasamudra Police have registered a case in this regard.
