Nanjangud: A 40-year-old woman died on the spot after falling from a KSRTC bus, which moved suddenly while she was alighting from it at Kadubinakatte Gate on the outskirts of Nanjangud yesterday.
The deceased woman is Bhagya, wife of Doddabasavaiah of Channapatna village near Hura in the taluk.
Bhagya had boarded the KSRTC bus to go to Morarji Desai Residential School at Sinduvalli near Muddahalli to meet her son Pavan Kumar, who was studying there. While she was alighting the bus at the turning of the residential school, the bus driver allegedly moved the bus suddenly resulting in Bhagya losing her balance and falling down from the bus. She died on the spot.
Following Bhagya’s death, the passengers and public, holding the bus driver responsible for Bhagya’s death for his negligence, took the driver to task.
Dy.SP Prabhakar Shinde, Sub-Inspector (Traffic) Jayalakshmamma, rushed to the spot, conducted preliminary investigation, seized the bus and shifted the body to the Taluk Hospital for post-mortem.
Deceased Bhagya’s husband Doddabasavaiah has lodged a complaint at Nanjangud Traffic Police Station.
