Woman held in fake currency notes racket

Mysuru: Vidyaranyapuram Police have arrested a woman for her involvement in printing and circulating fake currency notes in city. The arrested has been identified as 40-year-old Gowramma, a resident of J.P. Nagar in city.

Gowramma, who purchased clothes from a roadside vendor near the library in Vidyaranyapuram, gave the vendor fake note which the vendor refused to accept following which wordy duel ensued between the two. Soon, public gathered at the spot and one among them informed the Police on learning about the issue.

On receiving information, Vidyaranyapuram Inspector Omkarappa and staff rushed to the spot.

On examining the currency, the Cops came to know that it was a fake one and seized Rs.500 and Rs.2,000 fake currency notes from her.

Based on the information provided by Gowramma, the Police raided a photocopy shop at Tilak Nagar here and seized a computer, printer and other materials from the shop which were used to print  fake currencies.

Vidyaranyapuram Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have launched a hunt to nab the prime accused Nikhil, who is absconding.
