Mysuru: An egg-seller, who was trying to cross the Railway track near JP Nagar, was run over by a train yesterday. The victim is Sannamma (65), wife of late Siddegowda and a resident of Hosahundi (Kempegowdanahundi).
Sannamma used to go by walk to sell country eggs every day in JP Nagar, Srirampura and other surrounding areas. As usual she arrived yesterday morning at 6 and sold eggs in JP Nagar and other areas. Around 10.30 am she was about to cross the Railway track.
As she was crossing the track, she was caught under the wheels of the train going from Mysuru to Chamarajanagar, said the Police.
The Railway track that runs near JP Nagar is very dicey as the oncoming train can be spotted only when one watches it closely.
As Sannamma was carrying the basket of eggs on her head and due to the jelly stones on the track, she was not able to cross in a hurry and was run over by the fast moving train.
Seeing the body lying on the track, the passersby informed the Railway Police. Besides, they found the mobile number of her daughter Bhagya and informed her.
The Railway Police have registered a case.
