Mysore/Mysuru: In a bid to help woman roadside vendors of their financial situation, battery operated three-wheelers will be provided to these women in a subsidised price and this pilot project will commence in city soon, said MLA S.A. Ramdas. Speaking to media, Ramdas said that the Government has brought out new schemes in the Budget for the development of women and added that to improve the financial condition of roadside women vendors and also to help them improve their business, battery operated three-wheelers would be provided to them.
Pointing out that a survey is underway to identify women roadside vendors, he said that a list of beneficiaries would be prepared soon. He further said that selected beneficiaries would be asked to remit Rs. 5,000 and the remaining amount would be given as loan from banks.
Stating that the beneficiaries would save money as fuel is not required to these three-wheelers as they are battery operated, he said that these vehicles would help the woman vendors to move from one place to another and conduct business. Information pertaining to this scheme would be provided at the programme for women scheduled to be held on Mar. 18 in city by inviting women roadside vendors to the programme.
