Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing the City’s Women’s Credit Co-operative Society located in Kuvempunagar K Block of misuse of large sums of money,a member of the Society has lodged a complaint with the Ashokapuram Police alleging that the Society has cheated her of pledged Gold Jewellery.
The member Shanti D.Avaradi, a resident of Kuvempunagar, in her complaint said that she had availed Rs.10 lakh loan from the Society after pledging 780 gms. of Gold in 2012. After clearing the loan in full along with interest, she applied to the Society for getting back her pledged gold in July 2019. But the Society failed to return her pledged Gold although she had cleared the loan she had availed along with Interest. When she persisted the Society to return her Gold,the Society Secretary told her that the Society has availed Rs.8.65 lakh loan from Manappuram Assets by pledging 344 gms.out of the 780 gms she (Shanti) had pledged with the Society.
Although she brought this fact to the notice of the Society’s President and the Executive Board members, no action has been taken for returning her pledged gold,the complaint said.
Based on Shanti Avaradi’s complaint, the jurisdictional Ashokapuram Police have registered a case against the Society President, Secretary and the Directors under Sections 406,409,420,504,506 and 34 of IPC.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that a few other members alleging misuse of money in the Society, too have lodged a complaint with the Ashokapuram Police.
