Women’s Day must be a regular feature: UoM Registrar

Mysore/Mysuru: International Women’s Day was celebrated at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) in the city recently. It was jointly organised by the Dean of Student Welfare and Department of Physical Education, VVCE.

Registrar of University of Mysore V.R. Shylaja was the chief guest. She spoke at length on women-centric policies at the workplace aimed at promoting gender equality, rendering support and addressing challenges faced by women employees. Shyalaja was in praise of the institution’s policy on equal pay, diversity and inclusion initiatives, highlighting significant number of women staff.

The Women’s Day celebrations should not be confined to a particular day, but it should be a continuous exercise to promote the welfare of women on and off workplace, she suggested.

Vidya Vardhaka Sangha (VVS) Hon. President Gundappa Gowda presided over the event. VVS Hon. Secretary P. Vishwanath and VVCE Principal Dr. B. Sadashive Gowda were the guests.

Sports and cultural contests were conducted a week ahead of the programme for the faculty members of the institution. Prizes were distributed by the guests.
