Won’t play any role in GP polls, says MLA G.T. Devegowda

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that Gram Panchayat (GP) polls are not fought on party symbols, Chamundeshwari JD(S) MLA G.T. Devegowda said that he will not play any role in the forthcoming GP elections.

Speaking to presspersons after taking part in a programme at Kalamandira on Sunday, Devegowda said that the three major parties — BJP, Congress and JD(S) and all other parties for that matter cannot contest the polls on party symbols. With the GP polls being held on a non-party basis, even the Deputy Commissioner has asked the political parties not to interfere in the GP polls in any ways.

The MLA asserted that he is not going to be the party in-charge for either Chamundeshwari or Hunsur Assembly segments.

Meanwhile, Chamundeshwari Block JD(S) President Raju quit the post on Sunday, citing negligence of MLA  G.T. Devegowda by the  top party leaders. He said that he will follow which political action that the MLA will take.

Even as GTD is playing truant with party leaders, K.R. Nagar JD(S) MLA S.R. Mahesh met G.T. Devegowda at Jaladarshini Guest House on Sunday and held talks with him for some time in a bid to end the reported differences between G.T. Devegowda and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
