Work-from-home lure costs businessman Rs. 34 lakh

Mysore/Mysuru: A businessman lost over Rs. 34 lakh after he fell prey to an advertisement of work-from-home with high returns.

The businessman, who lost his money is Nagendra (name changed), a resident of Vijayanagar 3rd Stage in city.

Nagendra, while browsing his Telegram account came across an advertisement offering work from home opportunity with high returns, clicked on the link provided in the advertisement following which he received a message on his WhatsApp from Reliance Properties.

Later, the fraudsters made Nagendra to login to a website and made him believe that he could get high returns by investing money. Following which Nagendra transferred a total of Rs. 34.62 lakh from his and his relatives’ bank accounts in phases but did not receive any profit.

Meanwhile, the fraudsters began to pressurise him to  transfer more money and in the meantime, a woman called Nagendra and asked him to transfer Rs. 18,000 and threatened of cancelling his membership if he failed to do so.

Realising that he has been taken for a ride, Nagendra lodged a complaint at city’s CEN Police Station.
