Madikeri: Online fraudsters have cheated a man to the tune of Rs. 1.03 lakh on the pretext of providing ‘work from home’ job.
The man, who has been cheated, is 38-year-old B.P. Pavan Kumar, a resident of K. Badaga village in the taluk.
Pavan, who came across the ‘work from home’ advertisement on social media, clicked on the link and received the ID of a Telegram App besides asking him to join the group. Pavan was later provided ucoin.TV website for which he paid Rs. 12,000 and got the task. After completing the task, Pavan was told that he had not completed the task and got Rs. 37,000 transferred from him.
The fraudsters told Pavan that he was in the last stage of completing the task besides telling Pavan to transfer Rs. 54,000 to complete the task. The miscreants then told Pavan to transfer Rs. 50,000 to withdraw the money he had invested.
A case has been registered at Kodagu CEN Police Station.
