Mysuru: A three-day workshop on ‘Cryptography, Network Security and Cyber Law’ was organised by the Information Science & Engineering (IS&E) Department, ISTE and CSI Student Chapter of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) at the College premises recently.
The workshop was inaugurated by Vidyavardhaka Sangha President Gundappa Gowda and Treasurer S.N. Lakshminarayana. Dr. Ashok Rao, former IISc Professor and Dr. C.R. Pradeep, former IISc Professor were the chief guests. Principal Dr. B. Sadashivegowda and HoD of IS&E Dr. A. B. Rajendra were present.
The session commenced with mathematical background required to analyse cryptographic algorithms by Dr. C.R. Pradeep, followed by the encryption techniques by Dr. G. Raghavendra Rao, former Principal of NIE and NIEIT-Mysuru and Secure Key Management by Dr. Harsha of JIT, Bengaluru.
On day two, the sessions gave practical knowledge on security attacks on networks using wireshark and GNS3 tool by Pradeep CEO, SLVIS Networking Bengaluru. On the last day, session on WLAN security was covered by Prof. H.L. Gururaj of VVCE, Mysuru, followed by a session on ‘Law enforcement and provisions on cyber security’ by Dr. C. Vidya Raj, former Principal NIEIT.
