Mysuru: JSS Centre for Management Studies (JSS CMS), Department of Management Studies, Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru, had organised a one-day workshop on ‘Role of Emotional Intelligence for an Effective Leadership’ for the students of MBA Corporate Finance recently at JSS CMS.
Dr. Zeb O. Waturuocha, Proactive and Creative Facilitator on Applied Behavioural Sciences (ABS), visiting faculty at IIM – Ahmadabad and IIM-Kozhikode inaugurated the workshop.
In his talk, he emphasised that students should develop the skills of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management. He described various key skills for building EQ and hence to improve the ability to manage emotions.
Dr. B.G.Sangameshwara, Vice-Chancellor, JSS Science & Technology University, who presided, emphasised the importance of emotional intelligence for management students. He added that Emotional Intelligence has a direct relationship with career success.
He also said that students must develop the Emotional Intelligence which will help to identify, use, understand and manage own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize, overcome challenges and neutralise conflict.
Dr. P. Nagesh, Head, Department of Management Studies, welcomed. Dr. Bettina C. Sudhaker, Programme Coordinator, proposed a vote of thanks.
