Mysuru: Mysore Textile and Readymade Garments Merchants Association (MTRGMA) had organised an awareness workshop on Goods and Services Tax (GST) at Nityotsava Convention Centre at Krishnamurthypuram here recently.
Inaugurating the event, Sudhakar S. Shetty, Vice-President, FKCCI, Bengaluru, opined that GST was a good move to have a uniform tax system in the country and added that it would make computation too easy. He said that a few economists had predicted a drop in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with the advent of GST which has already been disproved. He assured the merchants community that most of the people would be benefited by GST and allayed any undue fear in that context.
B.T. Manohar, Chairman, State Taxes Committee, GST Advisory Committee, gave a presentation on GST. ACCT V. Kumar presided. MCCI President A.S. Satish, MTRGMA President R.N. Ramesh and others were present. Around 100 merchants participated in the workshop.
