Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), in association with the Department of Animal Husbandry, had organised a workshop on cleanliness and methodology of slaughtering animals at the Corporation Slaughter House in Kesare here this morning.
About 400 people involved in the trade were briefed on Animal Protection Act and scientific method of slaughtering animals with focus on cleanliness by Capt. Thimmaiah and Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Member Dr. B.T. Jayaramaiah.
Inaugurating the workshop, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha said that all people involved in the trade of slaughtering animals should be aware of the Animal Protection Act. He asked the workers at the Slaughter House to strictly obey the laid down rules. He pointed out that even loading and unloading of animals to a vehicle should be done properly.
Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman, Department of Animal Husbandry Deputy Director Dr. Prasad Murthy, Assistant Director Dr. Tirumalagowda, Slaughter House in-charge Dr. Suresh, MCC Health Officer Dr. Nagaraj and others were present.
