Bengaluru: Kālinga Centre for Rainforest Ecology (KCRE) will conduct a workshop titled ‘STORM’ (Scientific Training on Reptile Management) in Mysuru on Feb.24 and 25 in association with well-known Herpetologist, Snake Shyam. The workshop aims at practical, fun way of learning about snakes.
In an effort to encourage people to learn more about snakes, KCRE has also announced special discounts for students.
The ‘STORM’ workshop is meant for existing snake rescuers, wildlife students and researchers who are keen on learning more about snakes which could assist them in enhancing their knowledge in Herpetology. The workshop is also extended to wildlife enthusiasts and general public who are passionate about Herpetology with a focus on snakes. Participants get to interact with some of the top notch experts on snakes in India. The workshop aims to inculcate soft skills, ethics behind snake rescue and communication skills among participants and train them on the right methods of snake rescue.
Addressing a press meet in Bengaluru recently, Gowri Shankar, Director KCRE said, “KCRE has been conducting STORM workshops since 2012. This is our 15th Edition at Mysuru and we have already trained over 500 participants at Mysuru and Chennai.” Gowri Shankar is a leading King Cobra Biologist and an environment educationist.
Speaking about the workshop, Snake Shyam, Chief Resource Person said, “This is a special workshop for me. Having rescued over 33,000 snakes in all these years, this workshop is the first-of-its-kind where it helps people see the big picture of rescue and relocation.”
