Rio Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu cemented her place in the semi-finals of the World Badminton Championships, after thrashing fifth-seed Sun Yu of China in straight games of the women’s singles event here on Friday.
The 22-year-old, the world number four, was in a ruthless mood throughout the quarter-final clash as she dispatched her Chinese opponent and fifth-seed 21-14, 21-9 in just 39 minutes.
Prior to this match, Sun led the pair’s head-to-head 4-3, having defeated Sindhu in straight games in their last meeting in Dubai last December.
