Mysore/Mysuru: World Brain Day was celebrated at District Hospital in city by Brain Health Clinic Department recently.
The event was organised by a team comprising B.N. Kruthika, District Coordinator, Bibi Fathima, Psychologist, Irfana Husen, Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist, Dr. S.K. Chitra, Physiotherapist and K. Ashwini, staff nurse, under the leadership of District Leprosy Officer, who serves as Nodal Officer for Brain Health Clinic. This team focuses on four neurological conditions: stroke, epilepsy, headaches and dementia.
Dr. Hari Prasad, Resident Medical Officer of District Hospital, Dr. Malthy, Paediatrician, Dr. Meena and Dr. Satyaprakash, Dentist at District Hospital and Dr. Brunda, District Leprosy Officer, were the chief guests.
Dr. Vidya, Head of Anatomy Department at JSS Medical College, provided a session on brain and its parts using a live brain specimen. Awareness banners were displayed in the hospital. Dr. Brunda explained various neurological conditions to the public. The team conducted screenings for 100 individuals to assess attitudes towards dementia and created awareness about mental health.
