Mysuru: Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), Mysuru, in association with Rotary Club has organised a series of programmes from Aug.1 to 7 as part of World Breast-feeding Week in city.
Disclosing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here recently, Paediatrician Dr. D. Narayanappa said the theme of the programme is ‘Breast milk is the foundation of life’ and added that mothers would be made aware of the importance of breast-feeding their babies.
He further said that the programme would be launched by Rangayana Director Bhagirathi Bai Kadam on Aug.1 at the Children’s Wing of Cheluvamba Hospital here at 2.30 pm.
He said that nursing students would stage a short play on importance of breast milk on the inaugural day.
As part of the World Breast-feeding Week, awareness programmes would be held for seven days at various places like Mission Hospital, Jayanagar General Hospital, Sigma Hospital and SMT Hospital.
The valedictory programme would be held on Aug.7 at 2 pm at JSS Hospital.
IAP Mysuru, President Dr. M.R. Savita, Dr. Jagadish Kumar and Dr. M.R. Prashanth were present at the press meet.
