Organisations hold several programmes in city
Marking World Consumer Rights Day, several programmes were held by various organisations in city this morning.
Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP): The MGP had organised a consumer awareness programme at Nrupatunga Mantap near Mathrumandali Circle in V.V. Puram here this morning.
The programme featured a demonstration on detection of food adulteration, removing pesticide residues from greens and vegetables and related issues.
A booklet on tackling consumer problems, environmental and civic issues was also distributed to the public. MGP President S.D. Saokar, Working President S. Sobana, Secretary Dr. M.M. Shenoi, Members Ashvini Ranjan, K.S. Narasimha Murthy, Sreemathi Hariprasad and others were present on the occasion.
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA): The DLSA, in association with Mysuru Bar Association and Government First Grade College, Kuvempunagar, had organised a function at the College premises to create awareness on legal services to mark the occasion.
Inaugurating the programme, DLSA Member-Secretary Mohammed Muzhirullah said that DLSA was aimed to educate people on legal services and advised people to make best use of the organisation.
Citing an example, he said that a complaint rejected at a Police Station, could be brought to the notice of DLSA for redressal and added that the people-friendly lawyers at the Authority would provide all possible legal assistance.
Resource persons B.S. Prashanth and Leelavathi R. Prabhu Borakara spoke on Consumer Rights and Legal Services respectively. College Principal M.R. Sowbhagya presided. NSS Co-ordinator H.G. Ramachandra Reddy delivered the keynote address.
