Worrying conditions of nomadic artists unveiled

Nomadic artists displaying their art at the Literary festival held at Hotel Southern Star with Mysuru Akashvani Assistant Director Abdul Rashid as the panellist.

Mysore/Mysuru: During the literature festival, nomadic artists stepped forward to reveal their challenging  circumstances.

The programme ‘60 minutes with anonymous nomadic artistes’ featured Mysuru Akashvani Assistant Director Abdul Rashid as the panellist. These artists not only showcased their art but also highlighted the difficulties they faced.

Narasimha and Rani from the Dombara community reminisced about their childhood days when they used to display their art on the streets. Mallaiah, Puttaiah, and their troupe captivated the audience with their songs.

Yakshagana song from ‘Ravana Thangi’ episode grabbed the attention at the literary festival yesterday. Picture shows (from left) Diwakar Hegde, Chinmai and Prasanna Hedge presenting the show.

Violin exponent Syed Moula played popular tunes like ‘Raghupati Raghava Rajaram’ and ‘Bombe Heluthaithe,’ earning enthusiastic applause from the gathering.

Abdul Rashid emphasised that these artists are not anonymous wanderers but rather our own ‘Gandharvas,’ adding  to their pride.
