Mysore/Mysuru: Writer P.S. Siddachar was presented with Rotary-Muktaka Sahitya Award at an event organised by Karnataka Muktaka Sahitya Academy in association with Rotary Mysore North at Rotary West Auditorium in Saraswathipuram on Friday. The award was presented by former Governor of Rotary District 3181 Rtn. Dr. R.S. Nagarjuna.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nagarjuna said, “Everyone should cultivate the habit of reading literature as it would help overcome the feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. Kannada speakers who have settled abroad frequently get together by organising such cultural programmes. Unfortunately, here in our State, we have very thin attendance for such events. We need not bother or be ashamed about not knowing English or Hindi. Let us be proud of our mother tongue.”
Academy President Rtn. S. Ramaprasad, Rotary Mysore North President Rtn. M.J. Swamy, writer Prof. N. Girigowda, Rtn. A.P. Virupaksha, Rtn. M.K. Yashwanth Kumar, senior theatre artiste Rajashekar Kadamba, former District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President M. Chandrashekar and writer Mysore Ranganath were present.
