Yaduveer performs Ayudha Puja

Curtain falls on Private Durbar

Mysuru: Titular head of the erstwhile Mysore Royal Family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar performed Ayudha Puja at the Palace premises on Oct. 1.

Yaduveer, who is also the Mysuru-Kodagu MP, performed puja to Pattada Katthi (Royal Sword) and other weapons as per the traditions of the Mysore Royal Family. The puja rituals were performed to Pattada Aane (Royal Elephant), Pattada Kudure (Royal Horse), Pattada Hasu (Royal Cow) and the fleet of vehicles used by the Royal Family.

At first, Chandika Homa was performed at the Kalyana Mantapa after the arrival of Royal Elephant and Nishane Aane, Royal Cow, Royal Horse and Camel along with Royal Sword and other personal weapons. Later, they were taken in a procession for puja at Kodi Someshwara and Kodi Bhyraveshwara Temples.

While, Yaduveer Wadiyar performed Ayudha Puja at the Savari Thotti, Royal Family members Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, Yaduveer’s wife Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar carrying her younger son Yugadhyaksh Krishnaraja Wadiyar and elder son Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Wadiyar watched the rituals  from the windows of the Palace.

Meanwhile, Oct.1 also marked the end of the Khas Durbar (Private Durbar) of Yaduveer Wadiyar at the Mysore Palace.

The Kankana tied to Yaduveer and Trishikha was removed at Devara Mane and Vani Vilasa Devara Mane respectively. The Lion face attached to the Golden Throne was also removed marking the end of this year’s Khas Durbar.
