Mysuru: Innovative Mysuru in association with Department of Kannada and Culture will be organising a three-day ‘Yaksha Sambhrama’ from Aug. 11 at Kiru Rangamandira in Kalamandira premises.
The festival will be inaugurated by Chamarajanagar industrialist G.M. Hegde at 6 pm. Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Chennappa will be the chief guest. Parthisubba Awardee and Yakshagana thinker G.S. Bhatta will preside. Later, ‘Hidimba Vivaha’ yakshagana will be staged.
On Aug. 12 (Monday), ‘Seethapaharana’ will be performed at Sri Krishnadhama, Saraswathipuram, at 7pm. On Aug. 13, a seminar and thalamaddale programme in association with Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota has been organised at MMK and SDM Mahilavidyalaya at Krishnamurthypuram. The programme will be inaugurated by art patron K. Raghuram at 10.30 am. Journalist B. Ganapathi, ‘Yaksharanga’ Editor Gopalkrishna Bhagwath, Yakshagana Researcher Dr. Kabbinale Vasantha Bharadwaj, Yakshagana artiste Keremane Shivananda Hegde, Yakshagana expert Dr. S.B. Hegde and Krishnamurthy Hebbara of Honnavara will deliver lectures during Sri Idugunji Mela 85 seminar.
The valedictory of the three-day event will be held on Aug. 13 at 7 pm with the staging of ‘Khandava Dahana’ at Sri Krishnadhama. Sri Pejawar Mutt Senior Pontiff Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji and Junior Pontiff Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji will grace the occasion. Sri Krishnadhama Vice-President P. Jayaram Bhatta will be present. The yakshagana will be performed by Sri Idugunji Mahaganapathy Yakshagana Mandali, Keremane. Entry is free.
