Mysuru: The April Festival Committee (AFC), Kodagu, has organised a Bharatanatyam performance by danseuse Yamini Muthanna on Nov.6 (tomorrow) at Federation of Kodava Samajas, Balugodu, Kodagu district. The performance will be from 6.30 pm to 9 pm.
According to Kallichanda Nataraj of AFC, his organisation aimed at promoting India’s rich cultural heritage by organising such festivals. In April 2017, AFC had organised a mega show of six top singers of Kodagu district at Choorikad School Grounds that was witnessed by over 2,000 spectators.
Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, Nataraj said that over 1,000 spectators will be there at Balugodu tomorrow to witness the cultural extravaganza. “The intention is to give a platform for artistes from Kodagu to display their talent. While in cities people get to witness many cultural events, people of Kodagu lack such opportunities. We want to bring culture to their doorsteps,” he said.
Performances from top-notch artistes like Yamini Muthanna will give an idea about superior dance forms and will enable youngsters to choose such dances as their career. “Yamini’s performance is top-class and is never mediocre. Seeing her perform, youngsters will surely get inspired,” Nataraj added.
Also, it is probably for the first time, Yamini is performing at her home district though she has given many national and international performances. “Even Yamini is excited to perform at Balugodu tomorrow,” he added.
