Yeshasvini Health Scheme: MAHAN clarifies stand

Sir,

This is with reference to the news report in yesterday’s SOM which says that as per a statement issued by the District Health Officer (DHO), thirty private hospitals in the district have agreed to get empanelled under the relaunched Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme.

I wish the DHO Office had also released a list of such hospitals for the information and benefit of the public. As someone who is in possession of this official list, I can say with confidence that it has the names of only some very small, mostly single-speciality hospitals, located in little known nooks and corners of the district.

It certainly does not include any major, well-known and well- equipped  private multi-speciality hospitals, which are the ones that can really do some good to ensure the success of the Health Scheme.

As things stand now, almost all major private hospitals, across the State, have strongly rejected the extremely unfair terms and conditions and the very low rates prescribed by the Scheme and have therefore refused to be a part of it, until bipartite agreements resolve the issue to their complete satisfaction.

Incidentally, this is the stand of MAHAN (The Mysore Association of Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Diaagnostic Centres) and all the Federations of Private Hospitals across the State too.
