Special alumni interaction portal launched
Mysuru: SJCE, a constituent college under JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru, which is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee Year, hosted a Young Alumni Meet at their campus on Nov. 5.
More than 100 alumni working at various fortune 500 companies and at notable positions across India were part of the meeting. They addressed more than 800 young students on aspects of choosing the right career, higher education opportunities, preparing for Government jobs, preparing for private job opportunities, research avenues etc.
Supriya Salian, Chairman, CII Mysuru and Managing Director of Plansee India High Performance Materials Pvt. Ltd., who was the chief guest, motivated students on the importance of choosing the right career after graduation. She emphasised women empowerment and the diversity situation in India, where the number of women in the workplace is a very small percentage, which is alarming.
She advised students to work on the soft skill aspect while preparing for interviews which is a crucial point to communicating what they are aware of.
Prof. A.N. Satosh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, spoke on future events planned under the Diamond Jubilee celebrations like Open Day, International Conferences and Workshops in the days to come.
He also emphasised on the 8 new courses which are to be launched in this academic year, the National Education Policy framework and how the alumni can support in changing the circular which is driven by new technology frequently.
Prof. S.A. Dhanraj, Registrar, emphasised on collaborative approaches with industries through the alumni network.
Prof. B.S. Harish, SJCE Alumni Association Coordinator, Prof. S.B. Kivade, Principal, were present during the inauguration.
A special alumni interaction portal was also launched during the event, which was developed by the final year students of the University. Harsh R. Shah, Shomik Ghosk, Vishal Mishra, Yashas Uttangi and Naman Oil were felicitated for their contribution in developing the software.
