• Gold ornaments worth about Rs.2 lakh and silver articles recovered
• The accused used to enter houses in the name of ‘vastu’ corrections
Mysuru: Lakshmipuram Police have arrested a 26-year-old youth on charges of stealing gold ornaments and silver articles from a house and have recovered 30 grams gold ornaments and silver articles besides seizing a two-wheeler and a mobile phone from him. The arrested youth is Akshay P. Padaki, a resident of Saraswathipuram in city.
On June 6, Akshay, who works at a travel agency, approached an elderly couple at their house in Krishnamurthypuram and introduced himself as Arjun Rao. He then told them that he would make a garden according to Vastu and also arrange things in the house as per Vastu.
After getting confirmation from the elderly couple, he (Akshay) entered the house and while placing the idol of a tortoise in the almirah, Akshay asked for some water to drink. When the woman at the house went inside the kitchen to fetch water, Akshay stole the gold jewellery from it, following which a complaint was lodged at Lakshmipuram Police Station.
Lakshmipuram Police, who took up the investigation, arrested Akshay on June 11 and during interrogation, the Police came to know that he had committed similar crimes at Bengaluru, Melukote and other places. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 30 grams gold ornaments worth about Rs.2 lakh and 320 grams silver articles from him besides seizing one two-wheeler and a mobile phone used for the crime.
DCP (Law & Order) M. Muthuraj and KR Sub-Division ACP Gopalakrishna T. Nayak supervised Lakshmipuram Inspector H. Hariyappa, SI Kumari M.S. Bhandi, ASI Gowrishankaraswamy and staff Raju, T. Puttaswamy, Sudeep Kumar, M.R. Kumar, Swamy and Siddapaji in the nabbing and recovery operation.
