Mysuru: The District Youth Convention and the District Youth Club Award Distribution function organised jointly by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mysuru District and University of Mysore NSS unit was held at the Town Hall here yesterday morning.
District Minister G.T. Devegowda, after presenting the District Youth Club award to Sri Vinayaka Yuvakara Sangha, Sagarkatte, Yelwal Hobli, Mysuru Taluk, said that the youths of today must strive towards building organisations and through them take the country forward.
In his welcome address, District Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra M.N. Nataraj said that all the districts in the country were celebrating the District Youth Convention and it was heartening to see the participation of youth in large numbers.
University of Mysore NSS Programme Coordinator Dr. B. Chandrashekar also spoke.
Sri Vinayaka Yuvakara Sangha President S.L. Shankar received the certificate and cash prize of Rs.25,000 was directly transferred to Sangha’s account.
In the District-level Swachh Bharat Abhiyan award, the first prize of Rs.30,000 and a certificate was bagged by Abhyudaya Mahila Samaja, J. P. Nagar and its President Dr. Susheela Nagaraj received the award. The second prize of Rs. 20,000 was bagged by R. Sowbhagya of Vishveshwaranagar and third prize of Rs.10,000 by Shivanna of Kundanahalli, Periyapatna.
Nearly 35 youth organisations were presented sports equipment which included bats and balls.
