Mysore/Mysuru: A 27-year-old youth was electrocuted while shifting a power line at Kalyangiri in city on Monday. The deceased youth is Pradeep, a resident of Mahadevapura in Srirangapatna taluk.
It is learnt that one Shekar, a CESC Lineman, was getting the power line shifted from Pradeep when the tragedy took place. Pradeep was engaged in shifting the power line passing in front of a house when electricity flowed through the power line electrocuting Pradeep. The body of Pradeep was hanging from the power line, eye witnesses said.
Local residents removed the body from the power line and shifted it to a private hospital. Pradeep’s parents and residents of Mahadevapura, who rushed to the hospital, shouted slogans against CESC officials.
CESC Superintending Engineer (SE) Sunil, Executive Engineer (EE) Poorachandra, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Sudheendra and Assistant Engineer (AE) Manjunath, who rushed to the hospital, told Pradeep’s parents and villagers that they came to know that Pradeep was doing an illegal work and had not taken permission from CESC besides telling that the CESC Lineman was getting this illegal work done from Pradeep.
Based on the complaint from Pradeep’s father Kumar, Udayagiri Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
