Nanjangud: A 17-year-old boy, said to be depressed, committed suicide by falling under a moving train near the Railway Underpass, close to Basavanapura in the taluk yesterday morning.
The deceased youth is Karan, son of Head Constable Shivakumar and teacher Nandini couple and a resident of Channakeshava Layout in the town.
Deceased Karan was pursuing his second year Diploma course at JSS Polytechnic in the town and was also distributing newspapers. It is said that Karan’s parents had scolded him for not concentrating in studies following which he (Karan) became depressed and at about 5.30 am yesterday, he fell under Chamarajanagar-bound train and ended his life.
Mysuru Railway Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and have registered a case.
