Youth ends life over IPL cricket betting

Alur (Hassan):  The IPL cricket betting menace has taken the life of a youth in Alur taluk of Hassan district on Thursday.

B.R. Latesh Kumar (20), an Engineering diploma student of Bhaktarahalli in  Alur taluk, is the deceased.

Latesh Kumar had reportedly lost Rs. 15,000 in an IPL cricket match betting and the racket operators were pestering him to pay the money.

Unable to bear the harassment of betting operators, Latesh Kumar consumed pesticide at his residence on Thursday morning, following which he was admitted to a hospital in Hassan. The youth breathed his last on Thursday night as he did not respond to treatment.

The Alur Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.
