Youth held for selling narcotics

Mysore/Mysuru: In a major narcotics haul, the Excise Department officials have arrested a youth and have seized narcotic substances worth about Rs. 12 lakh from him.

The arrested is 27-year-old K.M. Yashas, a resident of an apartment in Vijayanagar fourth stage in city.

Acting on a tip off, the Excise officials picked up Yashas when he was moving about in a suspicious manner on Bogadi Ring Road on Aug. 4.

During interrogation, he is said to have confessed to be in possession of prohibited drugs which were meant for sale, following which  the officials seized a black bag found in his person and narcotic substances such as SLD powder, DMT powder, MDMA powder and capsules were discovered in his house, which is totally worth about Rs. 12 lakh.

The Excise officials have booked a case under Sections 22(c), 27(a) and 28 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,1985 against Yashas for stocking and selling  prohibited narcotic drugs .

The operation was carried out by Excise Inspector H. Santosh Kumar, Constable B. Lokesh and other staff.
