Youth killed as goods vehicle hits bike

Mysore/Mysuru: A 28-year-old youth was killed on the spot while pillion rider sustained serious injuries, when a goods vehicle hit the bike they were riding near Pura village on H.D. Kote Road yesterday afternoon.

While the deceased has been identified as Lokesh, son of Nagashetty of Theranimunti village in H.D. Kote taluk, the injured is 29-year-old Shivashankar, who had been admitted to a private hospital in city.

Yesterday afternoon, Lokesh and Shivashankar were proceeding from Mysuru towards H.D. Kote on their bike (KA-45-W-0081) when the goods vehicle (KA-09-D-4291) coming from the opposite direction reportedly hit the bike between Pura village and Kenchamalli on H.D. Kote Road. 

Lokesh, who was riding the bike, suffered serious head injuries and breathed his last on the spot while pillion rider Shivashakar, who sustained serious injuries, was rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru. 

Lokesh was to get married on Sept. 16 and he was going along with his friend Shivashankar to purchase clothes and other items when the accident took place, according to H.D. Kote Police, who have registered a case. 

H.D. Kote Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, took the goods vehicle into custody and have launched a hunt to trace the driver, who fled from the spot soon after the accident.
