Youth meets watery grave while clicking selfie atop bridge

K.R. Pet:  A 28-year-old youth, who was clicking selfies atop the bridge connecting Hariharapura and Akkihebbalu in the taluk, met his water grave after he slipped and fell into the river on Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Shivakumar, son of Ganesh and a resident of Hariharapura village.

As the dam built across River Hemavathi in Gorur had reached its maximum, the authorities had released about 30,000 cusecs of water to the river resulting in the river reaching the danger level and flowing in full force.

Shivakumar, who went to see it, tried to click selfies on his mobile phone standing on the bridge during which he accidentally slipped and fell into the river and was washed away.

Fire and Emergency Services Personnel, who rushed to the spot, have launched a search to fish out the body.

Tahsildar Shivamurthy, Rural Police SI Girish and others, who visited the spot, took all measures to fish out the body   of the youth.

K.R. Pet Rural Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
