Pandavapura: Youths of Banangaadi village have rescued two leopard cubs from a field last evening which the Forest Department have taken into custody.
The cubs were spotted by workers in the field and as the news spread, the youths identified as Devaraju, Nandish, Ravi, Shekar and others who arrived at the spot, waited till the evening for the mother to take back the cubs. When the leopard did not return, the youths took the cubs to the village and came near the Aralikatte, where villagers thronged to have a glimpse of the cubs.
Forest Department personnel, who heard the news, rushed to the village and took the cubs into their custody. It may be recalled that leopards were seen roaming at Bebi Betta, Banangaadi, Bindahalli, Dinka and surrounding places. The leopards had also attacked the livestock.
The villagers have urged the Forest authorities to trap the leopards soon.
