Local talents to come to fore from Sept. 12 to 18
Mysuru: Nearly 145 colleges will participate in the seven-day Yuva Sambrama beginning from today showcasing 15 different themes and messages at the Manasagangothri Amphi Theatre.
Yuva Dasara Deputy Special Officer and SP Ravi D. Channannavar, addressing the media, here yesterday at the DC Office after a special meeting of Dasara Sub-Committee, said that Yuva Sambrama will be held from Sept. 12 to 18. District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will inaugurate the programme this evening at 6. The star attraction of the opening ceremony will be actress Karunya Ram. Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait will be the chief guest. MLA Vasu will preside.
The seven-day extravaganza is being organised as a precursor to the much-awaited Yuva Dasara and all local talents from various colleges will showcase their talents. This year the Principals of the colleges and the dance choreographers will be presented certificates. The different themes, which the students from various colleges will present include patriotism, Swachh Bharat, women empowerment, Mysuru’s rich heritage, plastic ban, environment concerns, farmer is the backbone of the country, celebrating 50 years of Poet Laureate Kuvempu conferred Jnanpith and achievers’ unique contribution, said Channannavar.
This is for the first time an audition had been held to select the anchors for Yuva Sambrama. Shyam (Mimicry Shyam), Teertha Ponnamma, P.C. Srivatsa, G.R. Meghana Basappa and Anusha Rao have been selected for compering the shows.
Every day the specially challenged children will present programmes for an hour, he said.
Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, MPs Pratap Simha, C.S. Puttaraju, R. Dhruvanarayan, Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Marithibbegowda and ZP President Nayeema Sultana will be present.
Yuva-Anveshane on Sept. 23, 24: The Dasara Sub-Committee has organised a two-day Yuva-Anveshane, for the first time, keeping the creativity and the future of the youth in focus, on Sept. 23 and 24 at Senate Bhavan in Manasagangothri. The aim of this programme is to guide the youth to face competitive exams and train them in personality development. The District Administration will distribute booklets on the occasion.
A meeting will be held with some of the important publishers and a book exhibition displaying books on competitive exams will be organised. The books will be sold at 15 to 20 per cent discount, the SP said.
Dasara Special Officer and Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, Yuva Dasara Working President and MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha and Secretary and Backward Classes Welfare Department District Officer Somashekar, Zilla Panchayat CEO P. Shivashanker, Food and Civil Supplies Department Deputy Director Dr. K. Rameshwarappa and Women and Child Welfare Department Deputy Director K. Radha were present at the meeting.
