Mysuru: Labour Minister Santosh Lad has said that a Zonal-level Job Fair will be held in the second week of February.
Speaking to press persons after holding a meeting with officials at the DC’s office here on Saturday, Lad said that around 15,000 youths from five districts — Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu — are expected to participate in the Job Fair which will be organised at Maharaja’s College Grounds.
Noting that 90,000 youths have registered to participate in the Udyoga Mela through online portal Koushalkar.com, he said around 200 companies, including top companies from the Zone, have expressed their desire to participate in the event.
Continuing, he said that the Labour Department is imparting skill training to nearly five lakh youths from the past six months.
Pointing out that the first Zonal Mela will be held in Mysuru, he said that such Melas will be conducted at Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Chitradurga and Udupi later.
Karnataka Skill Development Corporation Chairman Muralidhar Halappa, Managing Director Ashrafulla, Labour Secretary Aditya Biswas, Commissioner Samir Shukla, DC D. Randeep and other officials were present.
