Mysore/Mysuru: There is no bird flu scare at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo), clarified Zoo Executive Director Ajit M. Kulkarni.
In a communication to media, Kulkarni has stated that lab tests have revealed that there is no bird flu at the Zoo, a home for rare bird species from across the world. Following the death of cranes in Mysuru city and following the outbreak of bird flu in Kerala that has led to culling of thousands of fowls, there were apprehensions that even the Zoo birds might be flu-affected.
“We had collected samples and had sent for tests at a laboratory in Bhopal. We have got the results as negative and there is no reason to panic. Virus has not been detected in the samples of Zoo birds,” he clarified.
