Mysuru: Mysuru Zoo Executive Director K. Kamala Karikalan and Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF), Mysuru Division, Dr. V. Karikalan are among the 13 Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers who have been transferred by the State government yesterday.
In their new postings, Kamala will be the Executive Director of Karnataka Forest Development Corporation (Rubber), Mangaluru while her husband Dr. Karikalan will be the DCF of Mangaluru Division. Vasantha Reddy, DCF of Honnavar Division, will assume charge as the new Zoo Executive Director.
Kodagu Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Manoj Kumar has been posted as CCF, Project Elephant, Bengaluru and CCF and Director of BRT Tiger Reserve S.S. Lingaraju has been posted as CCF, Kodagu Circle. Mangaluru Division DCF K.T. Hanumanthappa has been posted as Mysuru Division DCF.
The couple, Kamala and Karikalan, both 2009 batch IFS officers, had served for almost eight years in Mysuru region in various capacities. For a brief period, they were posted in Bannerghatta.
Speaking to reporters, Kamala Karikalan, who had assumed charge as the Zoo Executive Director just a year ago, said she had a good experience here which was different from other postings. In her short stint at the Zoo, she had brought several animals through exchange programmes.
