Mysuru: The road side stretch between Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) and Karanji Lake Nature Park has been fenced all of a sudden and no officer seems to be aware of the sudden move.
The road links Nazarbad and Lalitha Mahal Road and already there is fencing on the Karanji Lake side. Now, the Zoo side has been fenced and poles have been erected. But none of the officials are ready to come on record regarding the fencing and they are saying that they have no knowledge about the fencing.
Even the officials from Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) or the Zoo are unaware of the fencing. The road that was very narrow earlier was widened and upgraded recently. Sadly, the widened road was used to dump garbage, construction material and other waste. Residents say that the fencing could have been done to prevent indiscriminate garbage dumping.
Meanwhile, Chamaraja MLA L. Nagendra has said that he was saddened as the MCC had not formulated any plan to revive the Karanji Lake that is going dry at an alarming rate.
Speaking at the MCC Budget meeting held yesterday, the MLA said that water can be drawn to the Karanji Lake through the Golf Club. He also suggested setting up of a Sewage Treatment Plant at the Lake and pump treated water into the Lake.
