Mysuru: The much-anticipated Mysuru Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Budget (2019-20), which was scheduled to be presented at 11 am this morning, turned out to be a disappointment for many as the presentation was deferred till 2 pm due to lack of quorum.
As soon as the ZP convened, ZP President Parimala Shyam on finding that there were only a few ZP members present at the Hall, postponed the Budget presentation by half-an-hour, citing lack of quorum. At least 38 members out of the 49 member Mysuru ZP should be present to fulfil the quorum requirements. But only 32 members were present.
When the ZP re-convened at 11.30 am, the number of ZP members did not touch the required 38, following which ZP President postponed the Budget presentation to Mar.11. But following severe objection from Venkataswamy, a ZP member from H.D. Kote Taluk and a few other fellow members, who maintained that the possible announcement of poll schedule before Mar.11 may come in the way of Budget presentation, the ZP President announced Budget presentation at 2 pm this afternoon. Marking Women’s Day, women ZP members celebrated the day by cutting a cake.
